All about Switchboo and our mission

Switchboo’s story

Inspired by his Gran, Luke Chapman founded Switchboo after realising that her energy supplier overcharged her one year by £700 and was taking advantage of her for nearly 45 years.

Like most people, Luke’s Gran (pictured below) didn’t really understand the ins and outs of her energy bills and just paid the bill when it came.

Luke said on BBC: “There’s a huge problem in the UK right now where 53% of households are overpaying for their gas and electricity, and it’s crazy.

“If you do not review your energy deal before it ends, your supplier will automatically roll you onto their standard plan, which is their most expensive plan.

“And the problem is, we all know that we should check our energy bills each year, but we don’t have the time, and as a result, we end up being overcharged.”

Switchboo solves that problem

From a young age, Luke taught himself computer coding, and he used these skills to build Switchboo.

You sign up completely free in 2 minutes, tell us a little bit about your energy at your home without any technical jargon, and we’ll tell you if you’re overpaying.

If you are overpaying, we’ll show you the cheapest deals we can find, and you can select what’s best for you, or we can help select for you.

And then that deal ends, we’ll automatically scan the market again, and switch you to the cheapest deal we can find, so you never have to worry about it.

Switchboo is rated 4.8 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot and helps thousands of people of different ages across the UK.

We’re on a mission to stop every household from paying too much for their gas and electricity, and we need your help.
